Mobile sauna pricing is in a weird middle: more like a wellness service than equipment rental, more like an event service than a spa. Most new operators undershoot. Here's the framework.
The four use cases (priced differently)
1. Residential / friend group
2-3 hour session, 4-6 people, at client's home or rental property. $200-$450.
2. Recurring wellness (athlete teams, yoga studios)
Weekly or biweekly recurring. Per-session $250-$400 (recurring discount). Monthly contract revenue.
3. Events (corporate, retreats, festivals)
Half-day or full-day. Half: $800-$1,500. Full: $1,500-$3,000. Unlimited rotations during the booking window. Premium for festival or retreat brand alignment.
4. Multi-day retreats
2-4 day retreat with one or more sessions per day. $1,500-$4,500 for the full package.
What changes the number
- Group size: base price covers 4-6 people; each additional person $25-$50.
- Add-ons: cold plunge ($75-$150), aromatherapy / essential oils ($25-$50), guided breathwork session ($75-$150 or instructor's separate fee), towels + robes provided ($25-$50).
- Travel: within service zone is included. 30+ miles = $1-$2/mile or flat trip charge.
- Timing: evening + weekend are premium ($25-$75 surcharge). Weekday daytime usually base.
- Wood-fired premium: if you offer wood-fired, charge 15-25% more than electric — the experience is more authentic + the wood is a real cost.
- Brand alignment: retreat or corporate clients with their own brand often pay 25-50% premium for white-glove service (custom signage, branded towels, attended host).
The deposit reality
50% non-refundable deposit at booking. Standard for wellness rental category. Without it, every weather-cancellation or no-show is a 100% loss. With it, you've already collected half + can rebook the slot.
The honest minimum
Most operators set $200 minimum for residential, $800 for events. Below those numbers, the trailering + setup + teardown isn't worth it.
How to quote
- Get the data: date, location, group size, indoor/outdoor (most are outdoor — driveway, backyard), use case (chill night, post-workout, retreat, event).
- Quote the package, not piece-by-piece: "Our 3-hour session for 6 people is $375 all-in. We can add a cold plunge for $100 if you want the contrast experience." Lead with experience.
- Take the deposit during the call. Same-day booking + deposit = 80% of operator revenue.
Red flags in your own pricing
- Closing 95%+ of quotes: too cheap, raise.
- Closing <30%: too expensive OR confidence weak.
- Customer asks "is that all?": too cheap.
- Days that net under $400 in revenue: minimums too low.
The bottom line
Charge by package, hold $200 / $800 minimums, take 50% non-refundable deposit, premium for events + retreats. Operators following this hit $80K+ year two part-time, $200K+ full-time. Get a quote-builder + deposit-collection tool.
